Destination Highlights

Rukatunturi, also known as Ruka in Finnish, is a 1,610-foot high mountain and ski resort in Kuusamo, Finland. In addition to downhill skiing, over 500 km of cross-country skiing tracks are available. Visitors can also rent snowmobiles to explore the area's 600 km snowmobile routes. Ruka boasts one of the longest ski seasons in Europe, typically running from October to June. Ruka becomes a hub for hiking and mountain biking during the warmer months, with the Oulanka National Park and the renowned 50-mile Karhunkeiros hiking trail nearby. Restaurant Tapio in Ruka became the northernmost Michelin restaurant in the world.
